End of Term Questionnaires

A big thank you to those of you that have returned questionnaires and thank you for your suggestions on ways to change / improve our setting. We have given consideration to your comments and here are our replies.

If the gate could be unlocked for a couple more minutes on drop off so parents do not need to buzz to be let out – this is out of our control as it is school that set the opening and closing times and these are based on safeguarding

The offer of hot meals – this is something we are trying to arrange for the Autumn term with Telford and Wrekin catering services

Lunches available in school dinner Hall – it became quite clear after Covid lockdowns that school did not feel that they could accommodate the times we would require in the dinner hall. However, we feel that we can offer more quality time with the children having lunch in nursery as this time is less rushed which enables us to have more time chatting with the children.

Nursery opening during school holiday times – out of 29 families only 2 families have requested this. This would not be financially viable for our nursery.

Parent Stay and Play sessions – food for future thought

Portal to see what children have been doing – We are currently looking at different apps to be able to offer this. We have to remember though that we are a very small team and our priority will always be to maximise our time being spent with the children

End of Term

As we approach the end of the summer term, Tuesday 25 July 2023, we would like to thank you all for all the support you have given us over the last academic year. We wish you all a lovely summer break.

To those of you moving on to pastures new we wish you lots of happy times in your new settings. To those of you returning in September we look forward to making more happy memories with you

Nursery Library Scheme

You will all be receiving a letter regarding nursery library. We hope you enjoy sharing some of our books with your little ones

Birthday Celebrations 🎂

We all enjoy celebrating each other’s birthdays at nursery and we know that many of our children enjoy bringing in treats to share with their friends. Could we please request that if these treats are sweets that they are not hard boiled sweets due to choking hazards. If the treat is cake can we please request that the cake/s are shop bought as we have to record allergens that are present in any food item we offer to children and we have to ensure products are in date.

Sun cream and Hats

As we are all aware it is so important for our children to enjoy outdoor fun safely during the summer months. Could we please ask that children have with them named sun cream and a hat. We will ensure children have the cream applied by a member of staff before outdoor play

Current Theme

This half term we will be busy exploring minibeasts. As part of this we will be hatching and nurturing our own butterflies. We will be discussing how minibeasts are important to our environment and how and why it is important to care for them

We will be exploring the colours of the rainbow 🌈

We will be continuing to prepare for our transition into reception class by exploring letter sounds through read, write, inc program

Lunch Bags

Could we please ask that lunch bags and drinks bottles have your child’s name clearly marked on the outside

Could we please also ask that drinks bottles contain water (plain or flavoured sugar free) as we are trying to promote good oral health and dentists are advising that sugary drinks are causing serious decay in children’s teeth

Lunch Bag Appeal

We’re sure we would all agree how important it is that our children are aware of healthy eating and how this can have a positive impact on their health today and in the long term. As part of our commitments to the department of education early year’s curriculum and the welfare requirements within this framework we have to ensure we are committed to promoting healthy eating along with good oral health with our nursery children. In light of this could we please ask that you work with us by ensuring children only bring along one item of ‘treat foods’ such as cake, chocolate, biscuits etc in their lunch boxes. We discuss with the children why it is important for us to eat our savoury foods, salads, vegetables, fruit and yoghurts first before our treat foods. If you have any questions with regards to this please speak with your child’s key person.

We know it’s difficult at times to think about different ideas to make lunch boxes appealing to the children and we will be putting up notices in our reception area to try and help with ideas. If you would like a copy of the poster just let us know and we will print one for you

Thank you for your support with this
